An Imperfect Beginning

Hi! I’m really not sure where to begin this post, but something I have been learning this past year is…sometimes the best place to start is the beginning. Now that makes total sense, doesn’t it? I know we’ve heard it many times, but the truth is- we all have to start somewhere. We all have a beginning. And beginnings are usually messy, imperfect, and often full of mistakes…which is why we often give up too soon or don’t start at all. But where would we be, for anything in life, if we never took that first step to allow ourselves to just BEGIN? So, this is my messy, imperfect, and maybe way too rambling attempt to just BEGIN. If you’re still reading, thank you for being here.

I know starting something new can be scary. As a “multi-passionate creative”, I often feel like I have a billion ideas floating around in my mind and I have tried and started many new things, always looking for the next project, chasing the next dream. And I’ll admit, there have been many I’ve started and never finished, and even failed. But, I’ve also experienced what amazing things can happen when we take a leap of faith and dive in to the new. I’ll share more on that soon, but for now I want to share a little about why I decided to begin this blog. I’ve thought about creating a blog many times in the past, but have talked myself out of it many times more. I allowed fears and doubts to take over and make the decision to NOT start. Believe me, they made sure I was aware of every reason why I should not even think about starting a blog. I’m unqualified. I don’t have a degree in writing. I’m not a famous influencer, or anything famous for that matter. I’m not popular enough. No one would read it or care what I have to write anyways…the list could go on and on. While those may be true…I realized none of those are reasons to not do something that has been placed on my heart for so long. Fear and doubt were trying to quench my passion for writing. Until now.

I am letting faith make this decision. I am stepping out of my comfort zone and trusting the One who placed these creative passions and gifts on my heart. When God places a dream on your heart, I truly believe He will equip with all that you need. But, that’s another topic for another post. I am just an ordinary girl who has a passion for writing and encouraging others…and I’ve decided that can be reason enough to begin.

My hope in sharing is to encourage you in your faith and in your physical/mental/spiritual wellness. To inspire and uplift you. To remind you, you are capable and you are worthy. I know I’m not a famous motivational speaker and there are already thousands of inspirational influencers in the world, but I hope if you found this blog-this is for you.

Maybe this first blog can be a little nudge to take that first step towards whatever comes to mind as you read this, a nudge to just BEGIN.

Begin, even if you have doubts.

Begin, when you’re afraid.

Begin, before you have it all figured out.

It may be imperfect. It may even fail at first. No matter how messy the beginning may be, you’re one step closer than if you never started at all. If God has called you to it, you will be amazed at what can happen when you let go and let Him lead the way. He’s just waiting for you to take the first step to begin.
